Expansion Comes As EdTech Market Grows

Irvine education technology firm Kajabi LLC recently boosted its mix of offerings for businesses.

The company, which in May raised $550 million in new financing, offers users a software platform that lets them publish and sell educational material.

The latest features include the ability for business owners to host and market their own podcasts. Paid newsletters and online coaching capabilities are set to follow.

Kajabi, with a valuation now over $2 billion, said it has nearly 45,000 active customers creating educational content on its platform. A spokesperson said some have earned revenue up to eight figures.

The Kajabi platform has helped its user base generate more than $2.5 billion in sales, of which more than $1 billion was generated over the last 12 months, according to the company.

Customers using its technology have been able to reach more than 50 million people globally, who are accessing that content via membership programs, online courses and other mediums.

A spokesperson for the company said Kajabi’s user base is diverse, but top categories for which content is created include personal development, health and fitness, business finance, marketing, education, parenting and lifestyle hobbies.

The EdTech market is broad ranging from technology solutions for preschool and K-12 learners to celebrity-instruction through sites such as MasterClass. Individual entrepreneurs and creatives are also using technology to strike off on their own to create online courses, which is where players like Kajabi, Udemy, Teachable, Thinkific and others come into view. Research Inc. said the EdTech market’s value reached $89.5 billion last year and that’s expected to continue to climb at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 20% into 2028. ■
