The District Lounge in Old Towne Orange had been shuttered since the pandemic began last year, but has now reopened with a new menu, new décor and other changes that are already proving popular.

A new 10-tap draught system is in place with domestic and rotating craft handles, and a new craft cocktail program features premium and single barrel whiskey.

The new menu features a turkey and Swiss panini melt, grilled cheese, a sausage sandwich, and pickled eggs served with pretzels and chili peppers.

Taco Tuesday features $1.50 tacos, and a new, extensive weekend brunch menu served 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. includes a variety of burritos, breakfast classics, and burgers.

After being closed, “I am just as pleased and excited about this reopening as I was for our initial opening 17 years ago,” said owner Mario Marovic, the Business Journal’s Restaurateur of the Year for 2021. “The District has always been very special to me being the first bar of my own. We’ve created a lot of great memories here and look forward to making many more.”

As for interior updates, The District has newly covered booths, stools, expanded backbar and a remodeled kitchen complete with a vintage airstream façade. Two billiard tables are in the back, and the patio has a shade canopy and privacy greenery.

The District Lounge now has more than 20 large screen TVs throughout the main rooms and patio.

Founded in 2004, the bar—a short walk across the street from the new Bosscat in Orange—has received numerous accolades including Best Lounge and Best Town Bar.
